Cinnamon Sticks

Cinnamon sticks are the dried, curled-up bark of cinnamon trees. The sticks can then be ground up into a powder. They come from the bark of trees in the Cinnamomum family, which are native to various parts of Asia, including Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, and China. The two most commonly used types of cinnamon are Ceylon cinnamon, also known as "true" cinnamon, which comes from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree, and cassia cinnamon, which comes from the Cinnamomum cassia tree.

Our cinnamon sticks come in a sealable 3"x4" bag with a weight of 25 grams (0.91oz) which is about 11 sticks-- and was packaged with gloves. We recommend doing a skin test to make sure you are not allergic if you plan on using Cinnamon topically. Cinnamon is very strong and can be irritating to the skin. It is best to dilute it with something else to make it not as harsh. Most research doesn't recommend using cinnamon on the skin at all. Please do your own research and use your best judgment.

Ancient use of Cinnamon:

Cinnamon has a long history of usage from all over the world. It originates from China where they used it to purify a space and the Bible mentions it for consecrating altars. It was first brought to Europe over 2400 years ago. In ancient Egypt, it was used in embalming rituals, and to cleanse the body, and for anointing. In ancient Rome, it was considered a luxury item and used in perfumes and as incense. The name comes from the Hebrew word "quddah”, which means "amber" or "quetsioth" - "bark like cinnamon". The Greek word is "kasia" which means trees that resemble or are similar to acacias. It was so special in its time, that is was used as a special gift for Kings and Gods. It was thought that the trees were protected by winged serpents. When it was introduced to the Western World, cinnamon was a trade secret so no one was sure about it's origins. It was thought that it was fished up from the Nile, or from the nests of 'cinnamon birds'.
